1-PIECE BASEBALL BATS
HOW THEY’RE MADE:
A one-piece bat is a solid continuous piece of metal.
HOW THEY WORK/FEEL:
When the barrel of a one-piece bat makes contact with the ball, the bat flexes (or bends) very little, resulting in a stiff feel. Because the bat flexes so minimally, little to no energy is lost during bat/ball collision, resulting in more power. A one-piece bat also provides more feedback, meaning you’ll feel more sting on mis-hits.
WHO THEY’RE FOR?
Because one-piece bats lose so little energy and generate more power, they’re preferred by stronger power hitters with above average bat speed.
2-PIECE BASEBALL BATS
HOW THEY’RE MADE:
A two-piece bat consists of a barrel and handle bonded together.
HOW THEY WORK/FEEL:
A two-piece bat flexes more during bat/ball collision, creating more bat “whip”, increasing bat speed. More bat speed means more power. If you swing a two-piece bat, you won’t get as much feedback, and you’ll feel much less sting as the construction redirects energy back into the barrel, preventing it from reaching the handle.
WHO THEY’RE FOR?
Contact hitters and hitters with average to below average bat speed. Or hitters who don’t like feedback/swing.
